Twitter Alert Notification plug-in configuration

The Twitter Alert Notification plug-in provides a way to send an alert notification or a "tweet" to a valid Twitter account.

BMC Remedy AR System permits you to send an alert notification to a valid Twitter account that is registered with a given user. If an AR System user has already registered with a valid Twitter Access Key and Token Secret and has set up Twitter as part of his alert notifications, this plug-in helps send a tweet to the registered Twitter account when an Alert Notify action in a filter is called.

The following BMC Remedy AR System components are important in sending alert notifications:

  • AR System Alert Delivery Registration form — Ensure that this form contains an entry for Twitter with the plug-in name ARSYS.ALRT.TWITTER.
  • AR System Alert Twitter User Authorization form — Use this form to map an AR System user to a valid Twitter account. For more information about the registration process, see Twitter User Registration plug-in configuration.
  • An AR Filter with Notify action to this AR System user invokes this plug-in to send a tweet.

Plug-in type

Twitter Alert Notification is a Java-based Filter API plug-in.

AR System server connectivity

The AR System server interacts with the Twitter Alert Notification plug-in when a filter makes a call to send an alert by using the Notify action. The Twitter Alert Notification plug-in (aralerttwitterVerNum.jarVerNum represents the version number of the release) is installed in the <ARInstallationFolder>\pluginsvr folder.

Configuration information

The configuration information of the Twitter Alert Notification plug-in is available in the AR System Administration: Plugin Server Configuration form.

The AR System Administration: AR System Configuration Generic UI form includes the Server-Plugin-Alias setting, which points to the correct plug-in server alias:

See Updating configuration settings by using the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, Configuring java plug-in servers and Setting plugin server configuration options.
