Using BMC Remedy AR System for Authentication

BMC Remedy Single Sign-On allows group information associated with BMC Remedy Action Request System (BMC Remedy AR System) server users to be retrieved and provided to BMC products. The BMC Remedy AR System authentication module and the BMC Remedy AR System user store are designed to be used together to provide additional information for users authenticated against the AR System server.

To ensure secure authentication, HTTPS has to be configured. For standalone installations, HTTPS has to be configured on the Tomcat server and for High Availability installations, HTTPS has to be configured on the load balancer.

Note

The BMC Remedy AR System user store provides read-only access to the user information stored in the AR System server and read-only access to user and group lists and memberships.

To configure BMC Remedy AR System for authentication

  1. Log on to the BMC Remedy Single Sign-On Admin console.
  2. Click Realm.
  3. In the List of Realms window, edit an existing realm, or add a new realm by entering the following details:
    • Authentication Type: AR
    • Host: [AR host]
    • Port: [AR port]

  4. Save your changes.

    • It's better to display the screen of AR configuration UI on step 3 instead of 'General' tab UI on step 2
    • Queue is already removed from configuration UI
