Resetting the Application Service password

If you change the Application Service password on the AR System Administration: Server Information form after you install Flashboards, you must run the Flashboards driver to reset the password before running the BMC Remedy Flashboards server again. If you do not reset the password, the BMC Remedy Flashboards server will not be able to log onto the BMC Remedy AR System server.

To avoid authentication failures, passwords for BMC Remedy AR System applications must not exceed 20 characters.

To reset the Application Service password

  1. From the UNIX command line or the Windows Command Prompt, change to the Flashboards installation directory.
  2. Enter the following commands:
    For Microsoft Windows:

    java -classpath arutil<versionNumber>_<buildNumber>.jar;flashd<versionNumber>_<buildNumber>.jar;.
    -DflashInstallPath= <FlashboardsInstallationDirectory>

    java -classpath arutil90_build001.jar;flashd90_build001.jar; -DflashInstallPath="C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\flashboards" FBDriver

    For UNIX:

    java -classpath arutil<versionNumber>_<buildNumber>.jar:flashd<versionNumber>_<buildNumber>.jar:.
    -DflashInstallPath= <FlashboardsInstallationDirectory>

    java -classpath arutil90_build001.jar:flashd90_build001.jar: -DflashInstallPath=/opt/bmc/ARSystem/flashboards FBDriver

The Windows command uses semicolons, and the UNIX command uses colons.
