Modifying the config.properties file for flashboards

This section provides the details on modifying the config.properties file for flashboards. You can manually change the default behavior of flashboards by changing the settings in the config.properties file.

Locating the config.properties file

The config.properties file is installed in the following directory: <midTierInstallationDir>\WEB-INF\classes\config.properties
The default value of midTierInstallationDir is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\midtier.

Changing the default format of flashboards

You can change the default format of flashboards by changing the settings listed in the following tables. For information about image-based and Adobe Flash formats, see Modifying flashboard properties.

Settings used to change the flashboards format

flashboards.showgraphinflash=[0 or 1]

Defines which default format to use when displaying flashboards. The options are:

  • 0 — Use image-based format.
  • 1 — Use Adobe Flash format.

flashboards.min_flex_width=260

The minimum flashboard width below which a flashboard is rendered by using image-based technology. The default is 260.

flashboards.min_flex_height=200

The minimum flashboard height below which a flashboard is rendered by using image-based technology. The default is 200.

Configuring data points on flashboards

If the number of data points plotted on a flashboard exceeds the configurable limit of 3000 set by Microsoft, you will see the error message: Cannot display a graph that contains more than {0} data points.

To increase this limit, add the following to the config.properties file:
flashboards.maxDataPoints= <numberOfPoints>

Example

flashboards.maxDataPoints=4000
