Modifying the companionservername or RMIPort properties

To modify the value of companionservername or RMIPort, perform the following steps:

  1. Stop BMC Remedy Email Engine.
See Stopping and starting the Email Engine.
  2. Open the EmailDaemon.properties file.
  3. Modify the values as needed.
  4. Save your changes to the EmailDaemon.properties file and close the file.
  5. Open the AR System Configuration Component form in search mode.
For more information about this form, see Centralized configuration system forms.
  6. Search for the Email Engine component by using the following search criteria:
    1. Type = com.bmc.arsys.emaildaemon
    2. Name = companionservername
  7. Modify the component name to reflect the changes made in the EmailDaemon.properties file.
For example, for the myhostname.com companion server, if you changed the RMIPort (in the EmailDaemon.properties file) from 1100 to 1200, then the new component name will be myhostname.com:1200.
  8. Restart BMC Remedy Email Engine.
