Modifying the attributes of two or more objects

Follow the steps given below to modify attributes of two or more objects:

  1. (Optional) Reserve the objects you want to modify.
    For more information, see Version control in BMC Remedy AR System.
  2. Select objects in an object list.
  3. Right-click and select Edit.
  4. In the Edit dialog box, select the appropriate page.
    The following table lists which pages are included for each object type. If you select objects of different types, only the common pages are included.

  5. To associate forms with workflow:
    1. Select the Associated Forms page.
      The Associated Forms list includes all forms associated with any selected object.
    2. Click Add.
    3. In the Form Selector, select the forms to associate and click OK.
      To filter the list of forms, type a pattern in the Name field. To move to a form in the list, type the first characters of the name in the Locate field.
    4. In the Edit dialog box, click Apply to associate the form or OK to associate the forms and close the dialog box.
  6. To change workflow execution options:
    1. Select the Execution Options page.
      Only execution options that apply to all workflow types selected are shown. A square in the check box indicates that some but not all of the selected objects have that execution option enabled.
    2. Select or clear the check boxes to set the appropriate execution options.
    3. To change the execution order, select an operation from the list and type an integer in the field.
    4. Click Apply to update the execution options, or click OK to update the execution options and close the dialog box.
  7. To change object permissions:
    1. Select the Permissions page.
      In the Permissions list, the Applicable To column displays one of the following conditions:
      • All Objects — The group or role has permissions for all of the selected objects.
      • Some Objects — The group or role has permissions to some of the selected objects.
    2. To assign permission to a group or role for all of the objects selected, click in the corresponding Applicable To and select All Objects.
    3. To assign permissions to new groups or roles, use the arrow buttons to move the appropriate groups and roles into the Permissions list.
    4. To change access levels (for example, Visible or Hidden), for each group or role in the Permissions list, click the drop-down menu in the Permission column and select the correct access level.

      To assign permissions for one group to multiple objects, see Assigning permissions.

  8. To update the change histories:
    1. Select the Change History page.
    2. In the New Description field, type an update description.
  9. To update or replace the help text:
    1. Select the Help Text page.
    2. In the Help Text field, type the new help text.
    3. To append the new text to the existing help text for each object, select the Append check box.
  10. To rename the selected objects:
    1. Select the Rename page.
    2. Select the option for the type of renaming you want:
      • Replace
      • Prefix
      • Append
    3. Complete the fields as needed.
      For example, to add Sales- to the beginning of all of the selected objects, select Prepend, and enter Sales-.
  11. Click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog box.
