Limiting entries using a published report

You can limit the number of entries in a BMC Remedy Action Request System (AR System) report, using the Publish Report plug-in. For more details about the Publish Report plug-in, see Troubleshooting Publish Report plug-in issues.

BMC recommends that you publish a report if you estimate that the report would contain more than 5000 entries.

To limit the entries in a BMC Remedy Action Request System report

  1. Open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Plugin Server Configuration.
  2. On the AR System Administration:Plugin Server Configuration form, select the appropriate Plugin Server instance and the Plugin set.
  3. From the Plugin Configuration tab, select the ARSYS.ARF.PUBLISHREPORT plugin from the Plugin Name list and click Modify.
  4. In the Modify Existing Plugin form, modify the setting value for ARSYS.ARF.PUBLISHREPORT  from the User Defined Elements panel.
    The default value is 2000.
  5. Click OK.
The new value for ARSYS.ARF.PUBLISHREPORT is displayed on the Plugin Server Configuration form.

When you change the limit of the entries value to 5000 or more, you must also increase the heap size to more than 1 GB as per your requirement, for example, Xmx1024m or Xmx2048m. The default value is Xmx512m. You can modify the heap size in the armonitor.cfg file at the following location:

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java" –Xmx512m -classpath "C:\Program Files\BMCSoftware\ARSystem\pluginsvr;C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\pluginsvr\arpluginsvr90_build001.jar;C:\Program Files\BMCSoftware\ARSystem\approval\bin\armaskingImpl90_build001.jar;C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\arserver\api\lib\arcmnapp90_build001.jar" com.bmc.arsys.pluginsvr.ARPluginServerMain -x BMC-GXDH6Q1 -i "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem" –m

For more information about what parameters to add to the configuration file for limiting the number of entries in a BMC Remedy Action Request System (AR System) report, see Modifying the file for limiting report entries.
