Configuring the display properties for a flashboard
To ensure a similar look and feel across BMC products, the default format of BMC Remedy Flashboards has the same color scheme and look as the BMC Dashboards product.
BMC Remedy Flashboards uses Adobe Flash technology. In leveraging the Adobe Flash technology, the new BMC Remedy Flashboards product provides:
- A more exciting UI.
- Off-loading of the chart rendering to the client side (browser side)--thus freeing the mid tier to do more processing.
- More client-side interactions such as step zoom in and zoom out; dynamic chart, legend, and color change; and full-screen view.
Because of the new client-side interactions, certain workflows (such as chart, color, and legend changes) no longer require the mid tier to process them as is required for the older image-based flashboard. Therefore, if you change a flashboard's definition on the BMC Remedy AR System server (for example, to use the Adobe Flash technology), and the user interaction with the BMC Remedy Flashboards does not require the mid tier to perform any processing, the user will not see the new flashboard definition changes immediately. When the user performs an action that requires mid-tier processing (such as a browser refresh), the new Flashboard definition is applied, and the user will see the changes.
