SNMP Configuration form in the AR System Administration Console

Use the AR System Administration SNMP Configuration form to configure the BMC Remedy SNMP Agent (SNMP). You can assess this form from the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console.

You must configure the SNMP Agent using the AR System Administration SNMP Configuration form if you select the Install option to install SNMP Agent version 8.1.00

Note

If you select the Upgrade option to upgrade an existing version of SNMP Agent to version 8.1.00, you do not need to re-configure the SNMP Agent.

SNMP Configuration form fields in the AR System Administration Console

Field name

Description

Enable SNMP Agent in armonitor.conf

  • Click Yes to enable the SNMP Agent.
  • Click No to disable the SNMP Agent.

System Location Information

Enter the system location information.

Administrator Contact Information

Enter the administrator contact information.

SNMP Agent Port Number

Enter the SNMP Agent port number.

Authentication Mode for SNMP Requests

  • Community Based — If you select the community-based option, the following fields are displayed. Select any one of the following community-based options.
    • Read-Only Community
    • Write-Only Community
  • User Based — If you select the user-based option, the following fields are displayed:
    • User Name — Enter the user name.
    • Access Mode — Select either Read-Only Access or Read-Write Access as the required access mode.
    • Authentication Mode — Select any one of the following authentication mode:
      • No authentication. No privacy (noAuthNoPriv)
      • Authentication only without privacy (AuthNoPriv) — If you select this option, the Authentication Password field is displayed.
      • Authentication with privacy (AuthPriv) — If you select this option, the Authentication Password and Private Key Password fields are displayed.

Traps

Click Enable to enable Traps.

Note

If you click Enable, the System Receiving Traps, SNMP Trap Community, and SNMP Trap Port Number fields are enabled.

Trap Version

Select any one of the following Trap versions:

  • SNMP Trap Version 1 (community-based)
  • SNMP Trap Version 2c (community-based)

System Receiving Traps

Enter the system name that is receiving the Traps.

SNMP Trap Community

Enter the SNMP Trap Community details.

SNMP Trap Port Number

Enter the SNMP Trap port number.

Authentication Password

Enter the authentication password.

Note

The authentication password should be longer than 8 characters.

Private Key Password

Enter the private key password.

Note

The private key password should be longer than 8 characters.

Note

You must restart the BMC Remedy AR System server for the changes made to this form to take effect.
