Scheduling reports

An administrator can assign the Job Scheduler role to groups so that members can create or modify a schedule that specifies when a report listed in the Report Console is run and published (called report scheduling).

Note

Only administrators can schedule reports.

Prerequisites for scheduling reports

To schedule reports you must have Job scheduler role in your role list.

  1. On the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, open the Roles form and search for Role name as Job Scheduler.
  2. In the Production field, select the Reporting Admin group.
  3. Open the User form and assign the Reporting User to the Group List field.
  4. Login to BMC Remedy AR System and verify if the user has the permission to publish/schedule Web reports.
    For more information on scheduling reports, see the following section.

To schedule reports

  1. In the Report Console list, locate the report that you want to publish.
  2. Select the report and click Schedule.
  3. If a schedule has not been defined for the report, click New to create a schedule for publishing a report.
  4. (optional) To modify an existing schedule that is defined for a selected report, click Edit.
  5. Select the date and time to publish the report.
  6. In the Recurrence section, select one of the following:

    Options Descriptions
    Run Once to run and publish the report only once.
    Daily

    to run and publish the report every day, or in a regular interval of less than a week.
    Perform the following:

    1. In the Every field, specify the interval to publish the report. For example,
      • Enter 1 to publish every day.
      • Enter 2 to publish every alternate days.
      • Enter 3 to publish after every three days.
    2. Select the date and time to stop the report publishing.
    Weekly

    to run and publish the report on a particular day or days of every week or regular week interval.
    Perform the following:

    1. Enter a number to specify the week interval.
    2. Select the day or days you want the report to publish.
    3. Select the date and time to stop the report publishing.
    Monthly

    to run and publish the report on a particular day of every month or regular month interval.
    Perform the following:

    1. Specify or select the day and month interval.
    2. Select the date and time to stop the report publishing.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Specify the details for report publishing. For more details, see Publishing reports.

    Permissions related to the "Schedule Button" on report console are not clear in this document.

    Can all the users schedule the report ?

    Apart from Admin and Sub admin users, who all can schedule the reports ?

    Do I understand correctly that by default only administrators and sub administrators can schedule reports (according to note), but if they assign Job Scheduler role to any other groups, these groups will also have opportunity to schedule reports (according to first sentence)?

      You are right. Once administrators assign the Job Scheduler role to other groups, these groups will also be able to schedule reports.

        Hi Aparna,

        Small correction on my first comment. I tested the scheduling functionality with just sub admin access and when i logged in with sub admin access, schedule button is grayed out. So it looks for me only administrators can schedule the reports.

        Please verify the same from your end and update the page.

        As per your comment, an administrator needs to assign the Job Scheduler role to other groups to allow the users in the group to schedule reports. I am not able to find the way to add the job scheduler role to other support groups. If you can provide the detailed steps for the same, it will be really helpful.

            I have gone through the link mentioned by you for creating and mapping roles. I was not getting clear information from it.

            OOTB we have a role called "Job Scheduler" with role id -999 created with application name "AR System Job Scheduler" and mapped groups as "AI Arsystem Scheduler" test & production state.

            I have created a new mapping for the support group to which i need to assign the job scheduler role on form "Roles". But i am not able to achieve the functionality. Let me know if there are any additional steps to be followed.

    Hi Aparna,

    Finally i am able to figure it out and able to provide scheduling report access for required support group.

    With respect to scheduling a report with recurrence we were facing issues. There was a defect id raised from BMC for the same.

      Hi Piotr,

      Please follow below mentioned steps to assign "Job Scheduler" role for support group:

      1) Please open the Roles form and look for role id -999
      2) By default in the Test and Production state the Mapped group is AI Arsystem Scheduler
      3) You can append the desired support group (Group ID) from the dropdown and ensure that its placed before the default mapped group name - AI Arsystem Scheduler
      4) You can do it either in Test or Production depending on the state of the system configured and choose to save the changes.

      Once this done re login and check if the Scheduled reports button indeed get assigned to the desired group.

      Note: We can get the support group ID from Form: CTM:PeoplePermissionGroup.

    I ran this issue last month and got this solution from BMC Support and applied and it worked. I asked them to fix the documentation page as well. the documentation page tells different method which does not work either.

    Please follow below steps:

    1. Go to Roles form and search for Role name "Job Scheduler"

    2. Map the role with "Reporting Admin" group for test and production env

    3. Go to User form and assign the "Reporting Admin" permissions to the

    user

    4. Login to the remedy and check if the user gets permissions to

    publish/schedule Web reports.
