Other enhancements for Service Pack 1

This topic provides information about the following enhancements and new features in this release:

Copying field information to a new request

You can copy information from the fields in an existing form to a form in New request mode in the mid tier application. The new request contains all the data from the copied request, except diary fields and attachments. If you want the same attachments, you must save each attachment to a file and then attach each to the new request.

Also, if you wanted to create a new request but filled a form in Search mode, you can copy information from the fields of the form in Search mode to a form in New request mode. For more information about how to copy field information to a new request, see Copying field information to a new request.

Note

This AR System feature is not available in Service Pack 1 of the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite and BMC Atrium Core products. The copy to new feature might not work for some of the ITSM objects and you might receive an error message if you try to use this.

New Run Process command

The SECURITY-FILTER <fieldName> command handles security-related issues before a string input from a user is used in any HTML element and displayed back to the user. You can use a Set Fields action to call the process and use any string field value as the input parameter, and then get the result back.

For more information about process commands, see Process commands.

Right to left (RTL) support

BMC Remedy Mid Tier now provides right to left (RTL) support. The text direction of languages such as Arabic and Hebrew flows from RTL instead of the Western left to right (LTR).

Wait cursor

A wait cursor now appears in the browser while you wait for a table to load.

Note

This feature is not available in Service Pack 1 for the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite and BMC Atrium Core products.

Using a jump key in table fields

Previously in BMC Remedy User, when you highlighted a row in a list table, you could press a character on the keyboard to jump to the next row whose text in its first column began with that character. For example, if the first row was highlighted and you pressed J, the row in which the first column displayed “John Smith” would be highlighted. This function now works in browsers.

Note

This feature is not available in Service Pack 1 for the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite and BMC Atrium Core products.

Mid tier enhancements

Before Service Pack 1, when you accessed a form with a missing image, mid tier loaded the form without the image.

Starting with Service Pack 1, when you access a form with a missing image, mid tier displays the following error message:

Error generating page content

To revert to the old behavior, you can change the value of the arsystem.cache_removehtml_imagefailure property in the config.properties file to false.
