Exporting and importing data in the Registry and Category forms

If you deploy a web service to another AR System server and you also want to deploy the related registry entries, export the related Registry and Category form entries with the application that contains the web service.

Use the following guidelines to optimize the performance of registry updates when importing to the destination server:

  • When the Registry form entry does not already exist on the destination server, import the Category form entries first, and then import the Registry form entries. In this case, the Registry form entry triggers the registry update, and all the registry updates are made in one call by the plug-in server. (In other words, if an entry is imported to the Category form and the corresponding Registry form entry does not exist, the registry server is not updated.)
  • If you import Category form entries and the corresponding Registry form entry already exists, then the plug-in makes a separate call to update each Category form entry. For this reason, modifying a large number of existing Registry and Category form entries by importing them has a potential performance impact.
