Copying field information to a new request

Starting with Service Pack 1, you can copy information from the fields in an existing form to a form in New request mode in the mid tier application. The new request contains all the data from the copied request, except diary fields and attachments. If you want the same attachments, you must save each attachment to a file and then attach each to the new request.

Also, if you wanted to create a new request but filled a form in Search mode, you can copy information from the fields of the form in Search mode to a form in New request mode.

To copy information from an existing request to a new request

  1. Open an existing request.

  2. Press Ctrl+Alt+C.
The window changes to New mode, and fields are populated as in the original request.

  3. Add or modify information in the fields for the new request.

    Note

You cannot save a request until you add or modify data in the request.
  4. Click Save

To copy information from search mode to a new request

  1. Open a new form in Search mode.
  2. Instead of clicking New request, add information in the fields.

  3. Press Ctrl+Alt+C.
The window changes to New mode, and fields are populated as in the Search mode.

  4. Add or modify information in the fields for the new request.
  5. Click Save.

Hi. Nothing happens when we press Ctrl+Alt+C in any form. We have tried with IE 8, Firefox 29.0.1 and Chrome 35. Our Remedy version is 8.1 AIX-DB2.

Is there anything we have to configure to make it work?

      Hello,

Thanks for your comment. The shortcut key Ctrl+Alt+C works only with the BMC Remedy AR System forms or forms customized on BMC Remedy AR System. It will not work if you are using BMC Remedy ITSM forms.

      Thanks,

      Prachi

Hello again. Can you provide me with an example of a form where we can try this functionality?

On the other hand, I think this should be clarify in documentations because can make the people wrong. For instance, the idea https://communities.bmc.com/ideas/1925 was change to already delivered by an own BMC member when the idea proposed was clearly referring to Ctrl+T User Tool function which is not what you said that Ctrl+Alt+C does.

      Hello,

Thank you for your comment. You can try this functionality on any regular AR System forms such as User form, Group form, or you can create a new regular form. I will also update the content in this topic.

      Hope that helps.

      Thanks,

      Prachi

Hi again. I've also tried the User form and it doesn't work. I even try in https://try.onbmc.com/onbmc/arsys/forms/onbmc-s/User/Default+Admin+View1/?cacheid=b48748cf and it is not working either.

What I try in both our installation and in try.onbmc.com is :

    1. Search for service_desk user (the only one that exists)
    2. Press Ctrl+Alt+C
    3. Nothing happens. It keeps in Modify mode.
    4. Other shortkeys work (i.e. Ctrl+Alt+F2).

I've tried with IE, Firefox and Chrome in W7 and W8. And I've confirmed that Ctrl+Alt+C is not reserved for any other OS program.

    What are we doing wrong?

It would be nice to have  "Copy to New" available as an 'Accessible Menu Items' option in the form view properties.

It does work with the ITSM HPD:Help Desk form after an upgrade to 9.1 but not the join with the work log. Is there a way to copy both the incident data and the work info notes with one shortcut?

When I do Ctrl + Alt + C the new record overwrites my current ticket, because the copy doesn't open in a new tab or window like in used to in the old days of the User Tool. Is this for real? Can this be changed?
