Security policy impact on client-server communication

The following table will assist you in planning your BMC Remedy Encryption Performance Security or BMC Remedy Encryption Premium Security installation. It shows how the encryption security policy affects client-server communication. The Security Policy value in the Encryption tab determines whether encryption is required to communicate with the server.

Encryption security policy and client-server interaction

1 When a server's Security Policy is Optional and a client cannot support the encryption algorithm required by the server, their communication is unencrypted. For example, if the server is configured to use BMC Remedy Encryption Premium Security AES or RC4 algorithms and the client has only BMC Remedy Encryption Performance Security installed, the server will not "drop down" to Performance-level algorithms. Instead, communication between the server and client will take place in plain text.
