I'm unable to add a comment to the Tuning FTS for performance and stability in a server group page. The comment box is visible for a split second and then it is invisible again?

My comment on  Tuning FTS for performance and stability in a server group would be: Can you detail on which one of the both fts plugin server is doing the indexing or how it is determined?

I understand that the "secondary" is supposed to be the reading instance for all the other nodes but I do not understand which one of the both instances is doing the indexing and which configuration setting determines which instance is doing the indexing? Does this depend on which instance is started first? Or is the  Server-Plugin-Alias for FTS on the indexing pointing to the primary instance responsible for that?

      Hi Andreas!

Thank you for your comment! We have forwarded your feedback to the writer responsible for this content.

Also, we are aware of the issue of adding comments on some pages, and are currently looking into the same.

      Thanks,

Only one AR Server acts as the FTS Indexing server.  It is the AR server that is ranked for FTS and in 8.0 configuration you will notice that only 1 AR server should be ranked for FTS.  This server must point to the primary instance of the FTS Plugin (plugin alias in ar.cfg/conf), all other servers in the server group must point to the secondary FTS plugin instance (running on separate port).

The Primary instance of the FTS plugin, pointed to by the AR Server that is ranked for FTS in the Server Group Ranking form, will be the indexing instance of the Plugin.  It is the AR Server that sets the indexing mode - this is why it is important that only the single AR server be ranked for FTS and only that ranked server point to the primary instance of the FTS Plugin.
