Specifying the type of behavior to simulate in SilkPerformer

Use the Profile Web dialog box to specify the type of user behavior you want to simulate (see the following figure). For example:

  • Users who visit a web site for the first time, do not have persistent cookies, and have no documents cached. For cache reuse, select the option to check cache every time the user visits a site on the Emulation tab.
  • Users who revisit the web site, close their browsers between visits, have documents cached, and have persistent cookies set. For cache reuse, select the option to check cache every time.
  • Users who revisit the web site, do not close their browser between visits, and reuse their cached information. For cache reuse, select the option to check cache once per session. The tutorial and projects described in this paper use that option.

To simulate users logging back in to a web site, clear the Simulate user behavior for each transaction option on the Simulation tab (see the following figure).

To simulate users logging in for the first time, select the Simulate user behavior for each transaction and First time user options. For more information, search for "simulation settings" in the SilkPerformer Help.
