Support for IPv6
BMC Remedy Action Request System supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) network addresses. You can deploy BMC Remedy AR System servers in an IPv6 configured network and make them accessible to clients on IPv4, IPv6, or both IPv4 and IPv6 (dual stack) configured hosts.
IPv6 is an internet protocol that replaces IPv4. It expands the IP address space from 32-bit to 128-bit to significantly increase the number of available IP addresses. To comply with a United States of America federal mandate, the software products of government vendors must support operation on IPv6 networks.

Post-installation or post-upgrade considerations
After a new installation or upgrade of BMC Remedy AR System, you must enable the LDAPJ certificate to the certificate database for IPv6-configured networks. Supported operating systems for IPv6
BMC Remedy AR System supports the following minimum operating systems for IPv6:
- Windows 2008 (x64-bit only)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 (x64 only)
Note
For Windows, Java SE 8 update 45 or later is required for IPv6.
For Windows 2008 and earlier, all 32-bit versions support only IPv4.
Supported databases for IPv6
BMC Remedy AR System supports the following minimum databases for IPv6:
- Oracle 11g R2
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008
IPv6 considerations with BMC Remedy AR System
Opening forms from a browser with an IPv6 address in the URL
If an IPv6 address is used for the mid tier server name, enter the URL for a form by enclosing the IPv6 address of the mid tier server in square brackets. Do not enclose the port number of the server within the brackets. For example:
http://[2001:db8:123:1234:a12:1b23:4c56:d7e8]:8080/arsys/forms/<ARSystemServer>/<formName>
