SDG plug-in configuration

The Spreadsheet Data Generator (SDG) plug-in looks up the BMC Remedy AR System forms, fields, and conditional dependency of fields and retrieves the field properties, such as the help text, length, and label of these fields. The SDG plug-in then generates columns for each field in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The SDG plug-in reformats the data to the correct set, and eliminates the possibility of data mismatch by generating spreadsheets directly from the AR System forms.

Plug-in type

SDG is a Java-based Filter API plug-in.

AR System server connectivity

The AR System server interacts with the SDG plug-in when a filter API action occurs or a service is executed on a BMC Remedy AR System form. The SDG plug-in is installed in the <ARInstallationFolder>\pluginsvr\excelgenerator\lib\sdg.jar folder.

SDG plug-in configuration

The configuration information of the SDG plug-in is available in the AR System Administration: Plugin Server Configuration form.

The AR System Administration: AR System Configuration Generic UI form includes the Server-Plugin-Alias setting that points to the correct plug-in server alias.
Server-Plugin-Alias: ARSYS.ARF.SDG ARSYS.ARF.SDG myServer:9999

See Updating configuration settings by using the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, Configuring java plug-in servers and Setting plugin server configuration options.

The configuration data of knowledge sources is present in the following forms:

  • DMT:SpreadsheetColumnSelections
  • DMT:Spreadsheet
