Migrating Workdays and Holidays to the Business Time Segment form

This topic provides tips you can use when migrating your Business Time Workdays and Holidays to the Business Time Segment form.

In this topic:

Migrating Workdays considerations

  • All workdays become a Weekly Recurrence time segment.
  • Time segments require a Start Date and End Date that define the recurrence range. Since Workdays do not have a range, make sure that the Start Date and End Date fields represent a large range.
  • Workdays can have up to 4 shifts. Each shift is a time segment, which can have the same ID as another time segment.
  • Set the Level to 1 for all time segments.
  • Select the End of Day check box to indicate the end of the day instead of 11:59:59 P.M.
  • The ID field on the Business Time Segment form is the same as the Tag field on the Business Time Workdays form.
  • If the Workday form has an offset and if multiple time segments correspond to this workday entry, apply the offset to only one-time segment.

Migrating Holidays considerations

  • Use the Specific Dates tab in the Business Time Segment form to specify a list of dates (with the same time range). Make sure that the Start Date and End Date are in that list of dates.
  • Set the Level to 2.
  • If holidays are defined with different start and end times, create different time segments. They can all have the same IDs.
  • Select the End of Day check box to indicate the end of the day instead of 11:59:59 P.M.
  • The ID field on the Business Time Segment form is the same as the Tag field on the Business Time Holidays form.

Example

Consider an example to configure the following Business Time Segment:

  • Workdays from Monday to Friday.
  • Business Time Segment that starts on Monday 7:00:00 AM till Friday 5:00:00 PM.

You can create the following Business Time Segments and relate them to a single business entity (App Admin Console > Custom config tab > SLM > Configure Business Time):

  • A level 1 available segment recurring weekly with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday checked, with the start time at 07:00:00 AM and the end time at 04:59:59 PM. The first date can be a past date and the second date can be future date.
  • A level 2 unavailable segment recurring weekly with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday checked, with the start time at 12:00:00 AM and the end time at 06:59:59 AM. The dates should be same as before.
  • A level 2 unavailable segment recurring weekly with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday checked, with the start time at 05:00:00 PM and the end time at 11:59:59 PM. This can be achieved using the end of day checkbox. The dates should be same as before.
  • A level 2 unavailable segment recurring weekly with Saturday and Sunday checked, with the start time at 12:00:00 AM and the end time at 11:59:59 PM. This can be achieved using the end of day checkbox. The dates should be same as before.
  • One (or few) level 2 unavailable segments recurring on specified dates with multiple holiday dates separated by semicolons, with the start time at 12:00:00 AM and the end time at 11:59:59 PM. This can be achieved using the end of day checkbox.

In this example, you may exclude the level 1 segment as the time which is not defined can be assumed to be available. Note that in the example you cannot cross midnight using a recurring segment so you have to define two segments for night time.
