Creating and deploying a package using BMC Remedy Deployment Application
Moving of data and code from one environment to another, such as from QA to production, is a common process that can be very time consuming. The BMC Remedy Deployment Application provides a single method for promoting definitions and data effectively and reliably across environments.
You must have appropriate permissions to use the BMC Remedy Deployment Application. For information about roles and permissions, see BMC Remedy Deployment Application roles and permissions.
You can perform the following tasks using BMC Remedy Deployment Application:
- Using the AR System Deployment Management console
- Defining a package
- Defining a precheck for a package
- Importing and exporting a package
- Validating a package
- Archiving a package
- Using a command-line interface to manage a package
Overview of BMC Remedy Deployment Application

The BMC Remedy Deployment Application plug-in provides the following capabilities:
- Ability to import and export definitions and data
- Ability to call the Analyzer module to validate that a package meets the required standard
- Ability to add a checksum to the package if the package meets the package requirements
- Ability to verify the checksum for a package
- Ability to encapsulate the contents of a package into a single zip file
- Ability to unencapsulate the contents of a package from a single zip file
Note
Currently, you must manually move these types of objects between environments:
- Groups
- Roles
- Distributed Pool
