Updating configuration settings by using the AR System Configuration Generic UI form

Use the AR System Configuration Generic UI form from the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console to add or modify configuration settings for centralized components.

Best Practice

BMC recommends using the Server Group Configuration screen of the Remedy Management Console to set the global level and local level configurations. For more information, see Managing AR Server Group components by setting global-level and local-level configurations.

This topic provides the following procedures:

To add a new configuration setting

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the component to which you want to add a setting.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Enter the name of the setting that you want to add and its value.
    For a complete list of configuration settings, see Configuration settings.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click Close.

To modify an existing configuration setting

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the appropriate component.
  3. From the settings table, select the setting that you want to modify.
  4. Make the required change, and click Apply.
  5. Click Close.

To disable an existing configuration setting

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the appropriate component.
  3. From the settings table, select the setting that you want to disable.
  4. Prefix the setting value with a hash symbol (#) to comment it out, and click Apply.
  5. Click Close.

To delete an existing configuration setting

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Generic UI form, from the Component Name list, select the appropriate component.
  3. From the settings table, select the setting that you want to delete, and click Delete.
  4. Click Apply and Close.
