AR System Administration - Flashboard Server Configuration
Use the Server Group Configuration screen to set the Flashboard server configurations at global level.This screen provides a single location to manage configuration settings across the server group.
Access the Server Group Configuration screen from the location below:
- In a browser, enter the following URL address:
http://<midTierServerInstallDir>/arsys/forms/<serverName> - Log in.
- Select Remedy Management Console > AR System Server Group Console> Server Group Configuration.

Best Practice
Note
- The server.config file allows you to configure only the Flashboards server name, port, and password. To configure the Flashboards service startup properties, the refresh interval properties, the logging options, and other properties, you must use the Flashboards Configuration form.
The following table describes the fields in the Flashboard Configuration form:

Flashboard Service Startup | |
Wait for Server to Start | The interval (in seconds) for which the BMC Remedy Flashboard server waits for the BMC Remedy AR System server to start up. The default value is 300 seconds. |
Server Reconnect Attempts | The number of times the Flashboards server tries to connect to the BMC Remedy AR System server. The Flashboards server waits for the BMC Remedy AR System server to start up and tries to connect. If the connection fails, the Flashboards server continues trying based on number of attempts value. The default value is 10. |
Intervals | |
Flashboard Definition Refresh Interval | The interval (in seconds) after which the BMC Remedy Flashboard server checks the changes to Flashboards definitions. The default value is 1,800 seconds. |
Config File Check Interval | The interval (in seconds) after which the BMC Remedy Flashboard server checks for the changes to the server.conf file. The default value is 60 seconds. |
Logging Properties | |
Log To | The method by which you want to view log files:
The default value is FILE. |
Log File Name | Specifies the log file name. The default value is arfbserver.log. |
Maximum File Size | The maximum size (in kilobytes) for the log file. The default value is 100 KB. |
Maximum Backups | The maximum number of backup (.bak) log files to be allowed when the log file reaches the Maximum File Size value and a new log file is created. The default value is 10. |
Log Level | The logging level:
The default value is BASIC. |
Log Format | The log output is generated using Java log4j pattern layout. The default value is <%t> <%c> <%d> <%l> <%m> %n. For more information about the log4j pattern layout, see Pattern layout. |
Log Category | The type of information to be stored in the log file:
By default, all the logging types are selected. |
Others | |
RMI Registry Port | Specifies the value of the Remote Method Invocation (RMI) port for the selected BMC Remedy Flashboards server. The RMI Registry Port for Flashboard is 1150. |
