Creating alarms

Alarms can trigger notifications through email based on the threshold level of the associated meter. The BMC Remedy Flashboards server checks the threshold, based on the Check interval. If the threshold limit is reached, the server generates an entry in the Alarm Events form.

To create an alarm

  1. In AR System Navigator, expand serverName > All Objects.
  2. Right-click Flashboard Alarms, and select New Flashboard Alarm.
To add an alarm to an application, expand serverName > Applications. Then, right-click on the application, and select New Object > New Flashboard Alarm.
  3. Use the following table to enter values in each field.

Fields used to create a flashboard alarm

    Field Description
Active Enables the alarm if the option is selected.
Variable Name of the variable associated with this alarm (required).
Threshold Threshold level beyond which the alarm will trigger. Select an operator and enter an integer value, depending on the type of statistics your flashboard gathers. For example, you might have a flashboard that tracks the number of unassigned help desk tickets. Based on the number of unassigned tickets from previous days, you know that you must assign tickets immediately if the number of unassigned tickets reaches 50. So, you set the threshold level to trigger the alarm when the number of tickets reaches 50.
Remind when Frequency with which reminders are sent to the user defined in the Notify section of this panel, while the threshold conditions are met (required).
Check every Amount of time that must pass before the variable value is checked to verify that the alarm conditions are still in effect. The default value is 5 minutes.
    Notify by
