Configuring remote AR System servers for DSO

To enable the local DSO server to communicate with remote BMC Remedy AR System servers, perform the following steps:

  1. On the remote BMC Remedy AR System server, perform these tasks:
  2. On the local BMC Remedy AR System server, open the AR System Administration: Server Information form.
  3. Click the Connection Settings tab.
  4. In the Connection Settings tab, open the DSO Server tab.
  5. Enter the following information in the tables on the tab by clicking the appropriate table cell:
    • Server Name — The name of the remote BMC Remedy AR System server
If you enter data in both tables, you must enter the server name in both tables.
    • RPC Program Number — The RPC program number dedicated to DSO on the remote BMC Remedy AR System server, if any. If this field is blank, a value of 0 is entered, and the local DSO server communicates with the remote BMC Remedy AR System server through the fast and list queues.
See Assigning an RPC program number to DSO.
    • Port — If the remote BMC Remedy AR System server is running behind a firewall, that server's TCP/IP port number. If this field is blank, a value of 0 is entered, and the system uses a portmapper on the remote BMC Remedy AR System server to locate the appropriate port number.
See Assigning TCP port numbers to AR System servers.
    • Password — The remote BMC Remedy AR System server's local DSO password.
See Configuring a password for the DSO user.

      Note

Masked editing is not supported in tables on forms. Therefore, when you enter a password in this field, it is visible. After you save your changes in step 6, the password is masked.

  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart the local BMC Remedy AR System server to make these settings take effect.
  8. Repeat this procedure for each remote BMC Remedy AR System server that the local DSO server must communicate with.
