Backing up and restoring centralized configuration settings

You can now maintain copies of your centralized configuration data and restore any copy to revert to old customized settings at any time.

This topic provides the following procedures:

Note

The backup functionality copies all the centralized configuration data. You cannot create a component-specific or setting-specific backup.

To create a backup

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration Backups.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Backup Management form, in the Backup Name field, enter a name for the backup.
  3. Click Backup.

Note

When you create a backup, the data is backed up in the following forms:

  • AR System Configuration Component_Backup
  • AR System Configuration Component-Setting Mapping_Backup
  • AR System Configuration Setting_Backup

To restore a selected backup

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration Backups.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Backup Management form, from the Available Backups section, select the required backup, and click Restore Selected Backup.

When you restore a selected backup, it replaces all the current configuration settings with the settings from the backup.

To delete a selected backup

  1. In a browser, open the BMC Remedy AR System Administration Console, and click System > General > Centralized Configuration Backups.
  2. In the AR System Configuration Backup Management form, from the Available Backups section, select the required backup, and click Delete SelectedBackup.

Important

The backup is not restored if there is a version mismatch. For example, the backup is not restored if you try to restore backup for the version other than 18.05.

        Hello Jesus Diaz-ropero simon,

        Apologies for the delayed response.

There is no direct way to restore CCS settings to another AR System server. However, you can try the following:

        • Take the backup of configuration settings in an arx data file and re-import to the target AR System server. In this process, ensure that the configuration names on the source and target server are the same.
        • Copy configuration file (the ar.cfg file for AR System server or the config.properties file for mid tier) for the first time and change the configuration name so that AR System server or mid tier does not find it on startup and pushes settings from file to CCS.

        Hope this helps.

        Regards,

        Anagha
