IMS synchronization points

An IMS synchronization point is a point at which IMS must commit or rollback updates to the database.

IMS defines a synchronization point as any of these actions.

  • The transaction oriented job issues a get-unique (GU) to the IMS message queue.
  • The job issues a checkpoint (CHKP), syncpoint (SYNC), rollback (ROLB), or roll (ROLL) call to IMS.
  • The job terminates.
