Using the BMC AMI System Administration for IMS interface - Databases tab
- Click the Pin icon on the top to get the list of active IMS subsystems. You can pin on one or more IMSs from this list by clicking the Pin icon and selecting the required IMS subsystem.
- Select an IMS subsystem from the list of pinned active subsystems.
Select the Databases tab. The Databases table is displayed similar to the table shown below. This table lists 48 databases defined to IMS. 48 is the default value, but you can change it by clicking Filters.

You can also provide name of the database to display using the wild card characters, or you can list the transactions that are related to this specific database.
You can select one or more entries in the table and perform actions like start, stop, reload, and delete databases . Select All allows to select all the listed entries. Optionally, you can enter the name of the database to search in the text box.
- To view applications related to a database, select the database and select the
icon. - To view transactions related to a database, select the database and click the
icon. - To view databases related to a database, select the database and click the
icon.
Creating a database
- To create a database on an IMS subsystem, select the required IMS subsystem, and on the Databases tab, click Create. The Create Database dialog box is displayed as shown below.

- In the Database name field, specify a name for the database.
- Specify one of the Access intent values and specify the access rights of the database:
- EX - exclusive access to the database
- RO - read-only access
- RD - read access
- UP - update intent access
- Optionally, select DB resident in storage to specify whether the DMB that is created for this database should be made resident in storage.
- Optionally, select Start the Database after creation to start the database after it is created.
- Optionally, select Start DEDB areas to start the DEDB areas after the database is created.
- Optionally, select Automatically reload sensitive ACB to automatically reload sensitive ACBs.
- Optionally, select Reload DEDB randomizer to reload the DEDB randomizer.
- Click Add to IMS to create the database.
Editing a database
- To edit a database, select the required IMS subsystem, and on the Databases tab, select the database for editing and click Edit . The Edit Database dialog box is displayed as shown below.

- Edit the required options as explained in the procedure above for creating databases, and click Revise to save the revised options.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
