Online views for SMDBASxx-controlled databases

The online views for each database lists the VSAM KSDS data sets in the database. The SMDBASxx member and the active database provide the data set list for the views.

The File Status column in each view displays the current status of the VSAM KSDS data set in the active database.

The DBAS Status column in each view displays the current status of the VSAM KSDS data set in the SMDBASxx member.

If you change a database in the database views, the active database and the SMDBASxx member reflect the change. However, editing SMDBASxx outside the views described in this section can cause the active database and SMDBASxxto become out of synchronization. Therefore, to update an active database, BMC recommends that you update SMDBASxx by using the online views presented in this section. This process keeps the active database and the active SMDBASxx member synchronized when you make online changes that force a rebuild of the active database.

You can use the File Status and DBAS Status fields to determine a potential out-of-sync condition as follows:

  • A file status of DBAS only means a file that was added to the SMDBASxx member is not included in the active database.
  • A DBAS status of -- means a file that was removed from SMDBASxx is still included in the active database.

Important

BMC AMI Storage creates INTERNAL records for each detail collection interval to summarize the data that was collected. These records are used internally by BMC AMI Storage to facilitate better reporting performance.
