Filtering summary

In the CDS filtering dialogs, you can specify any or all of the parameters.

For more information, view the Quick Course MainView SRM Reporting - Use CDS Filter Dialogs.

You must have a BMC Support ID to view the Quick Course.

Use the OP fields to set comparison operators for the values that you enter. Most non-numeric or single entry fields allow masking and stacking (multiple entries) of values separated by a comma. Some fields have two sets of OP and value entry fields. These fields allow for exclusions and ranges.

The following example includes all SYS1 data sets except those that are named (prefixed) SYS1.MAN.

Information
Example
DSN EQ SYS1/
DSN NE SYS1.MAN/

The following example includes all volumes that have volume serial numbers (VOLSERs) that begin with BAB. The example excludes all that begin with BAB1, BAB3, or BAB5.

Information
Example

VOL EQ BAB/
VOL NE BAB1/,BAB3/,BAB5/

This example displays data sets that have utilization greater than 20 percent but less than 90 percent.

Information
Example
Percent Used GT 20 LT 90

BMC AMI Storage uses all of your entries in the dialog to create the data set filter. Assume that you entered all of the example entries. The resulting filter would list only SYS1 data sets (excluding SYS1.MAN data sets) on BAB volumes other than BAB1, BAB3, and BAB5 that have utilization greater than 20 percent but less than 90 percent.

Warning

Important

The first DSN and VOLUME entry fields in the dialog have a continuation line. You must completely fill the first line before using the next line because the two lines are treated as one contiguous string.

The following table lists and describes CDS filtering parameters.

CDS filtering parameters

Parameter

Description

Masking allowed

Multiple entries

ADJ Last referenced Age

Filters the calendar-adjusted days since a migrated data set was last referenced

Valid values are:

0-99999

Adjusted Backup/Migration Age

Filters on the calendar-adjusted days since backup version was made

Application Name

Filters on application name or mask

+

+

Backup/Migration Age

Filters on the days since the backup version was made

Backup /Migration DSN

Filters on the data set name of the HSM backup/migration copy of the data set

+

+

Backup/Migration Date

Filters on the date when the data set backup version was made

Catalog Information

Shows the catalog status of the data set

Valid values are:

Y – show catalog status.

N – do not show catalog status

Cataloged Versions

Indicates whether retained backup copies are to be displayed

Valid values are:

Yes – Displayed are backup versions of data sets that were cataloged at the time of backup and those that were not.

No – Backup versions of data sets that were not cataloged at the time of backup (or cataloged on another volume) are not to be displayed.

Only – Only backup versions of the data sets cataloged at the time of backup are to be displayed.

Collection Description

Provides a user-defined description of the collection data set

The description is displayed in the CDS data set collections view.

Current /Migration Volume

Filters on the HSM volume containing backup version

+

+

Data Class

Filters on the SMS Data Class name

+

+

DSN

Filters on the data set name or mask (MYDSN or MYDSN/) or list (MYDSN/,MYDSN2/...)

+

+

DSORG

Filters on the data set organization or list of data set organization types (PO,PS...)

Valid values depend on the view. See Values for DSORG filtering parameter by view.

+

Expiration Date Julian

Filters on the expiration date for a data set in Julian date format yyyyddd

Expiration Date Gregorian

Filters on expiration date for a data set in Gregorian format yyyy/mm/dd

9999/99/99 can be used for data sets without an expiration date.

From Volume

Filters on VOLSER of the primary volume

+

+

Group/Pool

Filters on the name of the group or pool (MYPOOL, MYP/ or /) or list (mypoolab,mypoolc/...)

If you enter a value other than '/', the Group/Pool Type parameter is required. '/' returns all groups and pools of every group or pool type.

+

+

Group/Pool Type

Filters on the type of pool or group (POOL,SUBPOOL,STRGROUP)

If you enter a value in this field, you must enter a value in the Group/Pool Mask field.

Valid values are:

  • POOL
  • SUBPOOL
  • STRGROUP

Last Referenced Age

Filters on the days since the data set was referenced

Valid values are:

0-99999

Last Referenced Date

Filters on the date when the migrated data set was last referenced

Management Class

Filters on the SMS Management Class name

+

Migration Level

Filters on the migration level

Valid values are:

1 or 2

Migrated To SDSP

Filters on the small data set packing indicator

Valid values are:

Y – has been migrated to SPDS.

N – has not been migrated to SPDS

Original Data Set Size

Filters on the original backed-up data set size in KBs

Percent Compressed

Filters on the compression degree of the migrated data set in % of original size

Retained Copy

Indicates whether backup versions of data sets cataloged on the correct volume at the time that the backup version was made, are to be displayed.

Valid values are:

Yes – Retained backup copies are to be displayed.

No – Retained backup copies are not to be displayed.

Only – Only retained backup copies are to be displayed.

Size On Backup/Migration Volume

Filters on the data set size in KBs on the HSM volume

SMF xxx Member Suffix

Indicates the suffix of the member that contains FLST statements to be used in addition to the dialog parameters.

See SETSRM-command

Storage Class

Filters on the SMS Storage Class name

+

+

Total Versions

Filters on the total number of backup versions

VSAM/NVSAM

Filters on the type of data set: (A)ll, (V)SAM, (N)on-VSAM

The DSORG parameter filters on the data set organization or list of data set organization types (PO,PS...). Table 2 lists the views and the corresponding valid values for the DSORG filtering parameter.
