Starting SVOS

Use the following procedure to start SVOS, which (by default) starts all licensed components.

The SVOS component controls the reading of the BMC AMI Storage system parameters from the PARMLIB data set, as discussed in Defining-the-BMC-AMI-Storage-system; SVOS also prepares the environment for all other components to be started.

To start SVOS

Issue the following z/OS command:

S SVOS

After SVOS successfully starts, the following message is displayed on the console:

SVO0106 RELEASE v.r.m OF SVOS HAS BEEN STARTED

The SVOS address space is now running. The loader (the framework under which all BMC AMI Storage components are started and controlled).

After successfully starting, the loader automatically starts the SVOS component. The SVOS component, like the loader, is common to all BMC AMI Storage components.

After the SVOS component is active, the following message is displayed on the console:

SVO0610I MainView SRM SVOS 7.5.01 HAS BEEN STARTED ON EM72
Warning

Important

SVOS is designed to start successfully, even if parameter errors are present. If parameter errors occur, access the Parmlib Members option (ADMEM view), correct the errors in the appropriate members, and perform a refresh. You can start the other components of BMC AMI Storage after you refresh the corrected members.

If an attempt is made to start another component following an SVOS parameter error, the attempt fails and generates messages that refer to the error.
