Changing partitions
Currently, you must unload and reload the database if you change the number of partitions or partition boundaries; either by changing the number of blocks in the RAA of a HDAM partition or the HIGHKEY of a HIDAM partition.
- For HDAM databases, using a two-stage randomizer can reduce or eliminate the need to unload/reload all database partitions when you change the number of partitions or the RAA size of a partition.
- For HIDAM databases, you can add a partition at the end of the database without having to unload and reload all of the partitions.
You must image copy all partitions after reloading the database because log records created before you changed the partitions will have invalid partition numbers and RBAs.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
