Bidirectional logical relationships

Partitioned databases support both unidirectional and bidirectional logical relationships.

Bill-of-Materials

The classic use of unidirectional logical relationships is the bill-of-materials, also known as the parts explosion. As long as symbolic pointing is used for the logical parent, recursive logical relationships, within the same database, are supported.

The logical children and logical parents are in the same database but not necessarily the same partition. The concatenated key of the logical parent in the symbolic logical parent pointer is used with the HDAM randomizing routine or HIDAM index to locate the logical parent.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
