Running an existing automation

When an event or a situation in BMC Helix AIOps matches the trigger conditions defined in the automation policies in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation, automation actions are displayed against the open events. As a BMC Helix AIOps operator, you can run such automation actions for open events (causal or situational), which execute the remediation actions in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation. If there are no policies for an event, you can raise a request and automation engineers create a policy in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.

You can also run automations while performing probable cause analysis for impacted services. For more information, see  Performing probable cause analysis Open link

To run automations for services

From the available automations, you can run the automation in any order to perform actions for remediating open events for services and situations. Currently, an operator runs these actions manually.

  1. Do one of the following actions to view an impacted service:
    • In the Services widget on the Overview tab, click any of the impacted services with open events.
    • From the Entities > Services page, click a service tile with open events.
  2. From the Root Cause Isolation list, select a causal node to view the top causal events for that node.
If the causal event matches the conditions defined in an automation policy in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation, one or more relevant automations are displayed.

  3. In the Automations column, click the available automation link.
  4. Click Run this Automation against the automation policy that you want to run in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.

If an automation action is not available for the selected event, click Request a new automation and perform the steps in To request automation
You can view the status and the details of the currently running policy and any instances that were executed previously in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.
