Viewing the history of changes to a CI and relationships

As a configuration manager, you can view the changes made to a configuration item (CI) or relationship that belongs to a class for which audit has been enabled.

Important

For a user with non-administrative privileges, such as Asset administrator or Configuration manager, some fields, such as Operation, Submitter, and Audit Date appear blank while viewing copy audit information.

To view the history of changes to a CI

  1. On the CMDB Portal, use the quick search to search for a CI for which you want to view the audit history.
The CI is shown in the search results.

  2. Click  to view the CI details.
  3. Click CI Audit to view the change history of the CI.
  4. Click  on any of the rows in the table to view details of the change.
You can sort the information in any of the columns in the table in ascending or descending order.

  5. (Optional) Click Export as CSV to export the audit details as a CSV file.
  6. To view the changes for related classes, select Include Related Records.
The Form Name column lists the changes for the related classes of the CI.

The following videos (02:18) shows how to view relationship audit history:

 https://youtu.be/nIvMMJuFxDQ

  1. On the CMDB Portal, use the quick search to search for the CI with the required relationship for which you want to view the audit history.
  2. View the CI in CMDB Explorer and expand the CI to view the relationships.
  3. Right-click the relationship and select Show Relationship Details.

    The relationship details are displayed.

  4. To view the history of changes made to the relationship, click Relationship Audit.

    Important

    • The table lists only those attributes that have audit enabled. Make sure that audit is enabled for the required attributes.
    • When you modify a relationship that has audit enabled, the InstanceId, DatasetId, and ClassId attributes might not be displayed when you view the history of changes in Explorer. To view changes for these attributes, you must again enable audit for that relationship.

  5. To view the changes for related classes, select Include Related Records.
The Form Name column lists the changes for the related classes of the relationship.

Important

To configure the default setting to view the history of changes for the related classes, go to Configurations > Core Configurations > CMDB UI Preferences > Audit.
