Enabling audits for classes and attributes

You can configure auditing for a specific class and attributes that belong to the class. You can also apply auditing for specific CIs by adding qualifications to the class.

Before you begin

You must have AR Administrator (ARADMIN) permissions to create or edit classes.

To enable audit for a class

  1. On CMDB Portal, select Class Management > Classes.
    The Class Manager opens.
  2. In the left pane, search for the class for which you want to enable audit.
  3. Click Edit.

    The Edit Class Details page opens.
  4. In the Audit Information section, select the audit type as Copy or Log
  5. If you select the Audit type as Log, specify the location or path of the audit log form name. 
    The default name is CMDB:DefaultAuditLog.
  6. (Optional) Specify a qualification if you want only specific instances of that class to be audited.
    You can specify a qualification for both Copy and Log audit types.

    Example: 'OwnerName' LIKE "Kelvin%" AND 'AssignedTo' = "mike%"

  7. Click Save.

To enable audit for an attribute

  1. In CMDB Portal, select Class Management > Classes.
  2. In the left pane of Class Manager, select the class (example,  Base Element) to enable audit for the attributes of its sub classes.
    The description of the class and its attributes are listed on the right pane.
  3. Click the attribute for which you want to enable audit.
    Example: OwnerName attribute
    The attribute details page is displayed is as shown in the following figure.

  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the Attributes Details section, Select the audit option from the Audit Option list.

  6. Click Save.
