Accessing and navigating the interface for using with TrueSight Server Automation

This topic provides instructions on logging in to TrueSight Automation Console.

Accessing TrueSight Automation Console

1. From a supported browser, enter the following URL to access the console:
   https://<FullyQualifiedDomainHostName>:<portnumber>/services/#/account/login

   The default port is 10443.

2. Enter your username and password.
3. Select one of the following authentication methods:
   • Secure Remote Password: Users authenticate against a registry of authorized users maintained in the central TrueSight Server Automation database.
     If using this method, the user must be included in the registry of authorized users in the Automation Console database.
     

   • Domain Authentication: Users authenticate by providing a name, domain, and password.
     If using this method, your domain must already be registered in TrueSight Server Automation.

   • RSA Secure ID: Users authenticate using the username and the token code obtained from an RSA SecurID token. 
     If using this method, provide the current token code in the Password field. 

   • LDAP Authentication: Users authenticate using a username and password, which is maintained in the directories on an external Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server. TrueSight Server Automation Authentication Service connects to an LDAP server to authenticate the user.

4. Click Log in. 
   You are now on the dashboards page. 

Accessing TrueSight Automation Console using PKI authentication

If your TrueSight Server Automation is configured to use public key infrastructure (PKI) authentication, you can log on using PKI authentication. PKI users can also use other supported authentication methods (such as Secure Remote Password, Domain Authentication, RSA, or LDAP) to log on to Automation Console. 

Do these steps to access TrueSight Automation Console:

1. From a supported browser, enter the following URL to access the console:
   https://<FullyQualifiedDomainHostName>:<portnumber>/services/#/account/login
2. If you have not already selected a certificate, you are prompted to select one. Choose the certificate that applies to Automation Console.
   If PKI is enabled, the login dialog box for PKI appears that shows the selected user. 
3. Click Log in. 
   You are now on the dashboards page. 

Accessing TrueSight Automation Console using BMC Remedy Single Sign-On

If your TrueSight Server Automation is configured to use BMC Remedy Single Sign-On (Remedy SSO), you can log in to TrueSight Automation Console with BMC Remedy Single Sign-On credentials once and are not required to log in again. To log in, you must use a different URL and your Remedy SSO credentials.

Do these steps to access TrueSight Automation Console:

1. From a supported browser, enter the following URL to access the console:

   https://<FullyQualifiedDomainHostName>:<portnumber>/services/#/account/login
   

   The default port is 10443.

2. Enter the username and password that is used by Remedy SSO.
   You are now redirected to the TrueSight Automation Console UI and can see the dashboards page.

Overview of the Automation Console user interface

The Automation Console offers role-based access to the application. An administrator has access to all the pages on the UI. An operator can access all the pages except the Administration page. 

The Dashboard page contains a Patch Dashboard, which provides graphical information about missing patches on assets in your environment. Widgets on the dashboard show specific metrics around patch compliance, patch remediation trend, missing patches by stage, impacted assets by risk score and Service Level Agreements, top 10 missing patches, top 10 business services at risk, and top 10 risk owners. The Vulnerability Dashboard provides information about identified vulnerabilities on the assets imported from a scan file. Widgets on the dashboard show mapped and actionable vulnerabilities, risk and SLA distribution by assets and vulnerabilities, remediation trends, and top 10 identified vulnerabilities, top 10 business services at risk, and top 10 risk owners. The Compliance Dashboard shows information about the compliance posture (percentage of compliant, non-compliant, and indeterminate assets), non-compliant assets by SLA, stage, and risk score, top 10 compliance scan policies, and top 10 business services or applications with a maximum number of non-compliant assets and evaluations. 

The Assets page shows a list of assets with the missing patches. It also shows assets that are imported from a vulnerability scan, and assets discovered by integrating with BMC Discovery. 

The Risks page shows the list of missing patches and impacted assets for each missing patch. It shows the vulnerabilities imported from a scan. The Risks page also displays data about compliance violations on the assets. 

The Operations page shows a list of operations, which perform remediation actions to install missing patches or vulnerabilities on assets. On the Operations page, you can also create operation templates with predefined options. You can use these templates to create similar type of operations.

The Manage page shows a list of patch policies, which scan the assets in your environment to identify missing patches. It shows the list of scan files imported in the product. It enables you to create exceptions for vulnerabilities. You can also create compliance policy scans to scan assets for non-compliant rules. 

Administrators use the Administration menu to perform configuration activities such as adding catalogs, defining Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and adding security groups to determine access to the Automation Console. 

Common Automation Console UI elements

Use this section to know more about the common user interface elements. 

• Click  to launch the Manage Connectors page. 
• Click the help icon  to launch the context-sensitive help topic.
• Click Security Group > About to view the product name and version. 
  
• Click Sign out. 

Changing the security group

The security group that you belong to appears in the top-right corner of the Automation Console UI. If you are assigned multiple roles in TrueSight Server Automation, you can change the security group to view the Automation Console according to your role. 

1. On the top-right corner, click Security Group > Change Security Group.
2. Select a group, and click Select. 
   You now view data according to the permissions assigned to the current security group.
