Installing – In containers

A new deployment model that consists of a repository (loaded with all out-of-the-box adapters and modules, referred to as content) and a Configuration Distribution Peer (CDP) is now available in Docker images. You install other components such as the Development Studio and the Lightweight Activity Peer on separate hardware (physical servers or virtual machines) as you would in a classic deployment scenario.

Installation process

In a test environment, you can install all TrueSight Orchestration component images (repository, CDP, and content only) on a single host. You still install LAP and Development Studio on hosts outside the containers. For instructions, see Installing on a single node

For the production environment, follow the sequence in this topic.

When you install TrueSight Orchestration in containers, the repository image contains embedded Remedy SSO. If you want to use an existing instance of external Remedy SSO, you can reconfigure the components after the product installation is complete. If you choose to use a new instance of external Remedy SSO, install it before installing other components.

Step 1. Complete the planning activities

As an administrator, use this information to plan new deployments of TrueSight Orchestration in containers.

DescriptionProcedure
Planning activities include understanding the deployment scenarios, system requirements, and other requirements for your environment. Planning
Step 2. Prepare for TrueSight Orchestration in containers installation

Download the installation files and prepare your installation environment.

Step 3. Install Remedy Single Sign-On (external)

Use these instructions if installing a new instance of Remedy Single Sign-On. Choose one of the options depending on your deployment scenarios.

DescriptionProcedure

By default, embedded Remedy SSO is installed with the repository. The embedded instance is used as an external Remedy SSO for the CDP.

If using an external Remedy SSO, install it before installing TrueSight Orchestration.

Step 4. Install TrueSight Orchestration in containers

Use these instructions to install TrueSight Orchestration in containers.

DescriptionProcedure
In production environment, you install TrueSight Orchestration components on multiple nodes.

Phase A – Install TrueSight Orchestration using one of these options

Phase B – Optionally configure the repository to use an external database

Step 5. Install Development Studio

TrueSight Orchestration Development Studio is a graphical authoring tool used to create, modify, and test workflows. It is a thick-client application that can be installed on Windows operating system only.

When you download the platform installation files, a separate installer is bundled for installing the Development Studio.

Step 6. Install Lightweight Activity Peer (Optional)

Unlike the classic deployment scenarios, you do not need additional peers such as the Activity Peer or the High-Availability CDP for achieving high availability. Swarm mode for containers support HA.

However, in this release, TrueSight Orchestration can only be installed on Linux-based operating systems. You can choose to install an LAP to host windows-based adapters.

Description

Procedure

Before installing any additional peer, you must add the peer in Grid Manager.

LAPs host adapters, but unlike the other peer types, they cannot execute workflows.

Step 7. Complete the post-installation tasks

Complete the post-installation activities to ensure that your TrueSight Orchestration Platform environment is functional.

DescriptionProcedure

Post-installation activities include:

  • Updating configuration files to connect Development Studio to a containerized CDP
  • Changing to an external Remedy SSO

What next?

  • BMC releases periodic product updates through feature packs and fix packs. Check the  Release notes and notices Open link   section for the latest product updates and apply the ones relevant to your environment.
  • After you complete installing TrueSight Orchestration in containers, you can extend the product capabilities by integrating Open link it with other products.
