Basic development or demonstration environment
You can install the server components and content (adapters and modules) on a single server and the Development Studio application on a Windows desktop computer. BMC recommends this deployment configuration (as displayed in the following figure) for a development or a demonstration or proof-of-concept (POC) purposes.
Consider the following points before setting up the basic development environment:
- Although you can install the server components and content on the same server, you cannot install all components in the same directory. The installation program prevents you from selecting components that you cannot install together. To install the required server components on one computer, you must run the installation program separately for each component.
- If you are installing a non-English version of the Operator Control Panel, you must install it separately from the CDP. You must install the non-English OCP and CDP on separate Tomcat servers.
If you choose to install all of the server components and content on a single computer, you must dedicate all of that computer's resources to the product.
Tip
When installing the product, consider creating directories at the same level under the default directory for the components, similar to the following example:
- Repository components
C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BAO\REPO (port 28080) - CDP and
Operator Control Panel
C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BAO\CDP (port 38080) - Adapters, modules, and run books
C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AO\content -
Development Studio
C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BAO\Studio
- Repository components
