Upgrading rules

When you upgrade the TrueSight Network Automation application server from an earlier version, your customized rule sets and rules are not changed.

If you want to use new features in updated rule sets, use the following procedure. For files that have been updated in this release see Upgrading rule sets and rules.

To upgrade rule sets and rules

  1. Copy the updated XML file to your local directory structure.
  2. Import the file. See Adding a rule import task.
In the Add Rule Import Task page, browse to the file that you copied, and then choose one of the following options:
    • Select Overwrite Existing Rules if you want to overwrite the rules that are currently in your TrueSight Network Automation system.

      Warning

If you select this option, customizations to existing rules and rule sets are overwritten.

    • Under Import To, select Selected Rule Set, and then select a rule set name. You can use this option to import the rules under a new rule set name. Your current rules and rule set remains intact so that you can test the new rule set updates and make sure they work before making them active in the TrueSight Network Automation system.
  3. Click Save.
  4. After the rule import task runs, view the Compliance Summary report for the new rules.
  5. After running the report and verifying the rules, you can add, delete, or modify the rules in the rule set to meet the specific needs of your environment.
