Deployment use cases

TrueSight Network Automation can be deployed on a small or medium scale.

Small-scale deployment

A small-scale deployment comprises of one TrueSight Network Automation application server with an embedded PostgreSQL database. The deployment involves running the TrueSight Network Automation installer on the computer that will host the TrueSight Network Automation application server and the TrueSight Network Automation local device agent. The device agent and embedded database are installed as a part of the installer.

Highlights of a small-scale deployment:

  • Requires a single host computer
  • Includes database; no dependency on customer-provided Database Management System (DBMS)
  • Devices are accessible to the application server
  • Supports up to 25,000 network devices

Medium-scale deployment

A medium-scale deployment comprises of one TrueSight Network Automation application server, a remote database, and multiple TrueSight Network Automation remote device agents.

Highlights of a medium-scale deployment:

  • Host computers required for the application server and each remote device agent
  • Uses customer provided third-party Database Management System (DBMS)
  • Can support devices with overlapping IP addresses and devices in secure zones not accessible directly from the application server
  • Supports up to 25,000 network devices
