Configuring SELinux to be permissive

When you use the put command with TFTP in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and the command fails with a permission error, perform the following steps to set SELinux to Enforcing:

  1. Log on as the Linux root user.
  2. Run the getenforce command to check the SELinux configuration.
  3. If the previous command returns Enforcing, run the echo 0 > /selinux/enforce command to switch the system into permissive mode.
  4. Run the getenforce command to check the SELinux configuration.
  5. Verify that the previous command returns Permissive.
