Configuring device authentication for jobs

To perform the Deploy to Active, Deploy to Stored, Commit, Reboot, Custom Actions, Deploy/Snapshot OS Image, Scan Syntax and Snapshot actions, TrueSight Network Automation must use credentials to access the device. TrueSight Network Automation determines which device credentials to use based on a Job parameter set under Admin > System Parameters:

  • Device Security Profile (DSP): In this mode, TrueSight Network Automation uses shared credentials in the DSP that is assigned to the device. All examples in this section assume TrueSight Network Automation is running in this default mode. The DSP assigned to a device is always used when performing a Snapshot span action.
  • Enter at Job Creation: In this mode, the user specifies their device credentials including login user name and password and the privileged user name and password (for example, enable password) when the Job is created, as shown below. If you are submitting a job to multiple devices, the supplied credentials must be valid for all targeted devices. TrueSight Network Automation is smart to apply only those credentials required by the device. For example, if one device does not require a specific credential (for example, Privileged User Name), but another device does, TrueSight Network Automation uses the supplied credentials when requested by the device.
