To apply feature packs or fix packs on the Presentation server using the wizard
Navigate to the Disk1 directory of the extracted folder, use one of the following options to run the installer:
Command To run the upgrade with the default ProductRegistry.xml path (Windows)
install.cmd
(Linux - as a non-root user)
./install.sh
(applicable to Linux platform only) To run the upgrade with a user-specified ProductRegistry.xml path
./install.sh -J PRODUCT_CONFIGURATION_FILE_PATH=<ProductRegistryFilePath>
Notes:
In the preceding commands,
<ProductRegistryFilePath>
refers to the full path to the ProductRegistry.xml file.Example:
./install.sh -J PRODUCT_CONFIGURATION_FILE_PATH=/data1/userA/ProductRegistry.xml
On Linux, ensure the following:
Start a new session as a non-root user to run the upgrade. Do not use the
su
command to start a non-root session.- Perform the upgrade as the user that initially installed the Presentation Server.
- Ensure that you have set the DISPLAY environment variable.
- On the Welcome page, click Next.
- On the License Agreement page, read the agreement and select the I agree to the terms of the license agreement option, and click Next.
If you do not agree to the terms of the license agreement, the installation process will not continue. On the Upgrade Confirmation page, select Yes, and click Next.
The installer automatically verifies the upgrade requirements. If it finds any errors, it displays them in the next screen. You can quit the upgrade process at this point, correct the indicated discrepancies, and then rerun the upgrade.Important
After you confirm, the Presentation Server is stopped temporarily and is started automatically after applying the feature pack or fix pack.
- Verify that the information on the Installation Preview page reflects your upgrade correctly. Click Previous to make changes, or click Install.
The installer configures the Presentation Server and starts the installation process. This might take some time. After the installation, the Installation Summary dialog box displays a summary of the installation.
To view the installation logs, click View Log. Click Done to exit the installation wizard.
Best practice
Before you access the TrueSight console, BMC recommends that you clear the browser cache.
To verify the Presentation Server upgrade was successful
Access the truesightpserver_fixpack_log.txt (11.3.02) or truesightpserver_servicepack_log.txt (11.3.03) which is located in the (Windows) %temp% directory or (Linux) /tmp directory. Check for warnings or errors. If there are no errors or warnings, the Presentation Server was successfully upgraded.
- Navigate to the (Windows) TrueSightPServer\truesightpserver\bin or (Linux) TrueSightPServer/truesightpserver/bin directory and run the following command:

tssh server status
(Linux)
./tssh server status
- The current installed version is displayed in the header that is similar to the following example:
BMC TrueSight Presentation Server - Command Line Interface 2019 version 11.3.xx
- A list of Presentation Server processes is displayed that is similar to the following sample:

- The current installed version is displayed in the header that is similar to the following example:
If errors occur, restart the Presentation Server by running the following command:
(Windows) tssh server start
(Linux) ./tssh server start
