Customizing a notification policy

You can now specify the notification criteria to send email notifications. When the notification criteria are satisfied and an event is generated, Infrastructure Management sends an email message to the administrator notifying him about the generated event.

In earlier versions of Infrastructure Management, you could set the notification criteria based only on the status of an event. For example, in the Add Criteria dialog box, you could select only Status from the Slot list. Now, you can set the notification criteria based on any condition you specify in the Selection Definition area of the Add Criteria dialog box.

Specifying the notification criteria

To specify the notification criteria:

  1. Log in to the Administration Console.
  2. On the Administration tab, select Notification Policy and click the Add Event Policy icon.
  3. In the Selector Chooser dialog box, select All_Events and click OK.
  4. On the Notification Policy Details tab, in the Notification Criteria area, select a condition for which you want to send notification emails. For example, if you want to send email notifications for all those events whose severity is unknown, set the condition as shown below.

  5. Enter the details in the other fields as required and click OK.

Your customized criteria have been added and Infrastructure Management sends email notifications based on the customized criteria.
