Upgrading the Application Server components
You can perform a direct upgrade of the Application Server component by running the installation program from the wizard-based UI or in silent mode. When upgrading from a version of the product prior to the last two releases you must perform at least one interim upgrade before you can perform a direct upgrade.
Use the information in this topic to determine your pre-upgrade activities and the installation process for your environment.
Before you begin
- Review the Release notes and notices for any changes to the system requirements.
- You must have completed any prerequisite activities outlined in Preparing to upgrade the Application Server.
- If you are upgrading from version 10.0 or earlier, or if you did not install the TrueSight Presentation Server with version 10.5, you must install it and Atrium Single Sign-On before proceeding with the Application Server upgrade.
Ensure that your Oracle environment is not hardened so that the TSCO product installer can query the ALL_USERS table in Oracle to retrieve the database users.
Upgrade process for Application Server components
Depending on how you deployed the Application Server components, your upgrade process can vary.
Upgrade process for a typical deployment
Upgrade process for a distributed deployment
Where to go from here
- After performing the upgrade, you must verify the upgrade and configure TrueSight Capacity Optimization.
If you have configured VMware ETL modules in your environment and if you want to import advanced VM events, configure the option to import advanced VM events in all VMware ETL modules after you upgrade to TrueSight Capacity Optimization 11.0. By default, the import of advanced VM events is disabled. For more details, see Configuring the continuous polling and collection of data from a VMware environment and Importing historical data from a VMware environment.
