Upgrading


When upgrading the TrueSight Capacity Optimization product and migrating data, BMC recommends that you follow the upgrade order and best practices outlined in this section. Before attempting alternate upgrade processes, contact BMC Customer Support. You must upgrade all servers and their components. You cannot run the product with mixed versions of its components.


Upgrade workflow

The following diagram shows a recommended upgrade process for a typical environment. Each of the boxes in the process diagram links to the corresponding topic. The table that follows the diagrams provides additional details and resources for each step.

Note

After the upgrade to TrueSight Capacity Optimization version 11.0, you will not be able to access and use the custom views that were created in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console. To continue to use them, create them in the TrueSight console.

Install Remedy SSO and upgrade the Presentation Server.

  1. Install Remedy Single Sign-On and migrate user data or configuration to Remedy SSO.
  2. Upgrade TrueSight Presentation Server to version 11.0.

5Upgrade the Application Server components. 
Upgrade all or selected components of the Application Server on the same computer.

In case of a medium/large environment, upgrade components of the Application Server on separate computers.

8Upgrade the Capacity Agent.

Upgrade the Capacity Agents on the target systems.

Note

The installation program for the Capacity Agent supports direct upgrades from the 9.5 version or later versions of the product. If you are using versions earlier than 9.5 of the Capacity Agent and you want to upgrade to latest the version, it is recommended that you uninstall the current version of Capacity Agent and install the latest version.

You can continue to use an earlier version without upgrading to the latest version.

Migrate to Remedy SSO to enable single sign-on access to the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console and the TrueSight console.

10Reinstall add-on packages.

  • Update the out-of-the-box, Storage, Network, and Hadoop capacity views, as applicable.
  • Reinstall the Sentry and Moviri add-on packages.
