Storage Pools page in the Storage Systems view

The Storage Pools page in the Storage Systems view enables you to quickly obtain any information about the storage pools available in your environment and to identify saturation and oversubscription risks.

To access the page, in the TrueSight console navigation pane, click Capacity > Storage > Storage Systems, and in the Storage Systems page, click the Storage Pools tab.

Metrics per storage pool are displayed in a tabular format.

By default, some columns are hidden. You can show or hide columns using the action menuthat is located next to the table title.

Each row in the table represents a storage pool and displays the following metrics:

Storage Pool

Name of the storage pool.Not applicableNAME
Storage SystemName of the storage system.Not applicableSA_CONTAINS_SP
Pool TypeType of pool.Not applicableST_POOL_TYPE
Size [TB]Overall size (in Terabytes) of the component. For a storage pool this value is the external size.Average on the latest dayST_CONFIG_SIZE
Capacity [TB]Total capacity in Terabytes.Average on the latest dayST_CAPACITY
Subscribed Capacity [TB]Sum of the host visible capacity (in Terabytes) for all volumes.Not applicableST_POOL_SUBSCRIBED_CAPACITY
Available Capacity [TB]Capacity not consumed in Terabytes.Average on the latest dayST_AVAILABLE_CAPACITY
Consumed Capacity [TB]Capacity actually consumed in Terabytes.Average on the latest dayST_CONSUMED_CAPACITY
Consumed Capacity [%]Percentage of capacity actually consumed.Average on the latest dayST_CONSUMED_CAPACITY_PCT
Saturation RiskWhether the storage pool is at a risk of running out of space. Possible values are: No Risk, Saturated, Not enough data, and n day(s) before saturation.Not applicable
  • “-” : When [the Slope value is null AND the NB Days to saturation is null (unavailable)] OR the Capacity = 0
  • “No Risk” : When the NB Days to saturation is null AND the Slope value is <=0
  • “Saturated” : When the NB Days to saturation <=0
  • “Not Enough data” : When the Slope Duration < 5 days
  • “<x> days to saturation” : When NB Days to saturation <=30
  • ELSE => “No Risk”
Oversubscription Risk

Indicates when oversubscribed thin-pools will soon not be able to allocate additional space to a volume when requested by the subscriber host. Such situation will lead to catastrophic data loss and corruption. Possible values are: No Risk, Warning, and Critical.

Note: The oversubscription risk indicator can be customized if you want to be warned sooner about an oversubscription risk. For more information, refer to Identifying oversubscription risks.

Not applicable
  • “-” : When the Pool’s type is not a ‘Thin’, ‘Thin Pool’, ‘DP Pool’ or a ‘Disk Folder’ (cannot be oversubscribed), OR one of the Consumed, Subscribed or Capacity value is null.
  • “Critical” : When the Consumed Capacity PCT >= threshold (default is 75%) AND the NB Days to saturation < 7
  • “Warning” : When the Consumed Capacity PCT >= threshold AND the NB Days to saturation >= 7
  • ELSE => “No Risk”
