Preparing to upgrade the Application Server
Before upgrading to the latest version of TrueSight Capacity Optimization, you must complete some activities to ensure that the installation program can successfully perform the upgrade. Contact BMC Customer Support before deviating from any of the following best practices:
Phased upgrades from earlier versions
If you are running earlier versions of TrueSight Capacity Optimization than the two most recent versions, you must perform at least one upgrade before you can directly upgrade to the latest version of the Application Server.
The Repository folder contains deployment-specific historical data that must be preserved upon upgrade. All other deployment files can be regenerated by restarting the installer. Restoring the database backup will suffice to restart the upgrade from scratch.
Before you begin the upgrade, ensure that you have a valid database backup. If not, perform a full database and file-system level backup of the installation folder of all TrueSight Capacity Optimization servers (create a tar archive or take a snapshot of TrueSight Capacity Optimization VMs).

TrueSight Operations Management extractors
Consider the following scenarios to work with the TrueSight Operations Management extractors:
Scenario 1: TrueSight Operations Management is upgraded to version 10.1 or later
|Scenario 2: TrueSight Operations Management version is not upgraded to 10.1 or later|
If you were using the old TrueSight Operations Management extractors, you must now use the corresponding new extractors.
