Planning worksheets

A successful TrueSight Capacity Optimization deployment requires planning the architecture and installation environment. The following sections describe how to plan deployment and include worksheets to help you collect information:

Planning the deployment architecture

To plan your TrueSight Capacity Optimization deployment architecture, read all of the topics in Planning and then complete the following deployment architecture planning worksheet.

BMC recommends contacting Customer Support when sizing a TrueSight Capacity Optimization deployment. Complete the worksheet before contacting Customer Support.

Use the following worksheets to plan your deployment architecture.

Managed entities worksheet

Fill out the following worksheet for each type of managed entity.

Entity type

Physical/virtual system, database instance, network link, or storage LUN.

Number of managed entities

For partitioned and virtual systems, includes the total number of managed entities (for example, AIX frames and LPARs, ESX cluster and hosts, and VMs).

Entities with workloads defined

The number of entities of this entity type for which you have defined workloads.

Number of workloads defined

The average number of workloads you have defined for each entity with defined workloads.

Number of business drivers

The number of business drivers.

Metric resolution for each type of managed entity and business driver

For example, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes.

ETL task worksheet

Fill out the following worksheet for each type of ETL you are deploying in your environment.
