Compute Pool page in the BMC CLM view

A Compute pool is a cloud entity that includes the processor, memory, and storage resources associated with the pod.

It is important to understand the key concepts of cloud entities and compute pools in terms of capacity management:

  • All resources in a Pod are organized into Compute Pools
  • Compute Pools belong to one and only one Pod
  • A given resource can appear only in one Compute Pool at a time
  • The resources in a Pod are marked either 'just onboarded' or as 'ready for placement'. Once a resource is 'ready for placement', it can be used by creating a VM in a Network Container in the Pod.
  • This marking is accomplished by moving the resource into the 'default compute pool' for the Pod, or into a 'placement compute pool' in the Pod.
  • There is only one 'default compute pool' in a Pod.
  • Any 'placement compute pool' in a Pod is always homogeneous, and it contains all virtual hosts, or all virtual clusters, or all virtual resource pools.

The Compute Pool page in the BMC CLM view displays information on all Compute Pools contained in the selected cloud. To access this page, in the TrueSight console, select Capacity > Views > Cloud > BMC CLM and click the Compute Pool tab.

Using data filter and other controls in tables

You can export and filter the information that is displayed in tables to suit your need. For instance, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, select a different cloud or pod, clear the selected cloud or pod, and so on. For more information, see Exporting and filtering tables.
